What a great night Wednesday night was at the Convention! Great speech after great speech — Condi Rice, Gov,. Susana Martinez, and others – culminated by our new GOP Star –V.P. NOMINEE PAUL RYAN! His clearly heart-felt speech was a real game-changer. I just got really emotional when he kept saying, “We can do this! We can do this!”   Yes, we can and we must!
This morning, the TX delegation and our guests were treated to a breakfast with great speeches from Congressmen Jeb Hensearling and Michael Burgess. Then, Gov. Perry brought us to our feet time and time again with his enthusiastic and impassioned remarks. State Senator Dan Patrick closed with a preview of legislation he will carry next session in Austin — enactment f a school voucher system. It received a very enthusiastic response from our delegation.
One of our Rules delegates, Melinda Fredrick (also RPT vice chairman) explained that the Rules which were adopted Tuesday night had been changed in a Rules Committee meeting to remove the ability of a presumptive nominee to “disavow” any duly elected national convention delegate. Thus we had a big win for grassroots conservatives.
Weather today is gorgeous – and we are all looking forward to tonight’s formal acceptance by Mitt Romney of the GOP Presidential nomination. It will be a great celebration and officially kick off our 2012 Victory campaign. The main stream media have not been carrying all of  the convention although FOX News channel has been covering the entire proceedings – with some breaks for commentary. Watch for our Texans – probably not many hats tonight as we are to wear dark suits and some didn’t want to top those off with cowboy hats. (Shucks, we know that in Texas, hats and boots go with ANYTHING! Just ask former Highland Village Mayor Dianne Costa about her bling-y boots which she wears with her very professional business suit for tonight’s festivities)
It was good to see State Rep. Tan Parker at the breakfast this morning and he will be at the convention this evening as well in the Guest section. Tomorrow we all head back to Texas – ONE team, ONE message, ONE goal: making Obama a ONE term president!

Warm Republican Regards,

DCRP Chairman
