Senator Rick Santorum to Headline Denton County Republican Party’s Lincoln-Reagan Event

Senator Rick Santorum, CNN’s senior political commentator and founder of the grassroots organization Patriot Voices, will be the featured speaker at the Denton County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln-Reagan dinner on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the D/FW Hyatt Regency Hotel.  The gala banquet will again be emceed by State Senator Jane Nelson, whose enthusiasm is always contagious.

Rick Santorum has been a voice for the voiceless – standing up for those struggling in this economy, protecting life at every stage and fighting to ensure that our nation is secure from those who wish to do us harm.

In 2012, Rick and Karen co-founded Patriot Voices, a grassroots and online community of Americans committed to finding ways to restore the American dream for hardworking families. Patriot Voices impacted a number of economic, social and national security issues by mobilizing its army of grassroots volunteers.

Rick served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995, and in the U.S. Senate from 1995 to 2007.  Rick took on Washington’s powerful special interests from the moment he arrived in our nation’s Capitol in 1991. He was a member of the “Gang of Seven” that exposed the Congressional Banking and Congressional Post Office scandals. Santorum wrote and championed legislation that outlawed the heinous procedure known as Partial Birth Abortion as well as the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act,” the “Unborn Victims of Violence Act,” and the “Combating Autism Act” because he believes each and every individual has value and the most vulnerable in our society need to be protected.

Senator Santorum served eight years on the Senate Armed Services Committee where he led the fight before the attacks of September 11, 2001 to transform our military from a Cold War force to meet today’s threats. He was a leader on US-Israeli relations, authoring both the “Syria Accountability Act” and the “Iran Freedom and Support Act” which he successfully fought to pass in spite of initial opposition by President Bush. Rick firmly believes that we cannot allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Acknowledged as one of the state’s largest and most exciting political events, this year’s dinner promises its usual great silent auction, as well as an exciting live auction including a Texas Motor Speedway VIP package, a fabulous dinner for ten prepared by internationally-honored Chef Morris Salerno, plus other marvelous items among the temptations for the attendees.

The gala evening begins with the private Lincoln Cabinet reception followed by the VIP reception which will provide the opportunity for guests to visit with Senator Rick Santorum as well as elected officials from across the state. Again this year, the dinner will feature its popular “Campaign Headquarters” where recent and future candidates will be spotlighted for Texas voters to meet and greet, according to DCRP Chairman Lisa Hendrickson.

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Attorney General Ken Paxton and Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller to Attend Denton GOP’s Lincoln-Reagan Event

Three of the state’s top elected officials are confirmed to attend the Denton County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln-Reagan dinner on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the D/FW Hyatt Regency Hotel. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Attorney General Ken Paxton and Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller will also be present at both of the receptions prior to the dinner.

Dan Patrick was elected lieutenant governor of Texas in 2014, winning the general election by almost 20 points, including historic levels of support from women and Hispanic voters.

In his first term as lieutenant governor, Patrick successfully pushed to nearly triple funding for border security. He also successfully led the way to provide lasting property and business tax relief for homeowners and businesses across the state. Under his leadership, the Senate passed school accountability legislation so that every public school campus in the state will receive an A – F rating. The 84th legislative session was pronounced one of the most conservative, successful and productive in history.

By enforcing the U.S. and Texas Constitution and the laws of the State of Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton is fighting to preserve Texas’ world class economy and protect our freedoms and liberties.  In his first two years, General Paxton filed 22 lawsuits against the Obama federal government to protect Texans from federal overreach.  In a case with national implications, General Paxton led a 26-state coalition at the U.S. Supreme Court to defeat President Obama’s illegal immigration plan. The Washington Post reported at the time, “The action deals Obama perhaps the biggest legal loss of his presidency…..”.

In addition to protecting Texas sovereignty on environmental issues, Second Amendment rights, religious freedom and immigration, General Paxton also launched a new unit targeting human traffickers in Texas.

Sid Miller is an eighth generation farmer and rancher and the 12th Commissioner of Agriculture for the great state of Texas. Commissioner Miller has devoted his life to the agriculture industry, and supporting Texas producers and the communities they call home. He is a businessman, rancher, community leader, former ag teacher and former school board member.

Throughout his service to the state of Texas, Commissioner Miller’s real-world agricultural experience has helped shape his policy decisions and make a difference for Texans. As the leader of the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), Commissioner Miller is focused on safeguarding private property rights and water resources, as well as protecting Texas consumers and agricultural producers. He is passionate about ensuring rural communities have access to the infrastructure they need to thrive.
