About the Denton County Republican Party

The Denton County Republican Party (DCRP) exists to uphold and advance the principles of limited government, personal responsibility, free enterprise, and individual liberty as laid out in the Republican Party platform. DCRP works year-round to mobilize conservative voters, support Republican candidates, and grow an informed and active Republican electorate throughout Denton County.

Our History

Denton County, established in 1846, has a deep and proud tradition of civic engagement and conservative leadership. Over the years, DCRP has been instrumental in building a Republican stronghold in one of the fastest-growing counties in the country. The organization plays a vital role in ensuring our values are represented at every level of government—from school boards and city councils to state and federal offices.

Our Leadership

The Denton County Republican Party is currently chaired by Melinda Preston, elected by the County Executive Committee and entrusted to guide the party through strategic planning, grassroots activation, and voter education.

Supporting her in this mission is a dedicated leadership team:

  • Vice Chair: Ronnie Jones

  • Secretary: Allen Wheeler

  • Treasurer: Dan Elmer

  • Sergeant at Arms: Brent Hill

  • Parliamentarian: Robert Ramirez

  • Chaplain: Rev. Rafael Cruz

This team works hand-in-hand with hundreds of precinct chairs, volunteers, and local Republican clubs to ensure our party remains energized, ethical, and effective.
