Jayne Howell not running for re-election in 2022

Dear Republican Family,

After prayerful consideration, discussion with my husband, and my family. I have decided not to seek re-election as your Denton County Republican Chairman in 2022.

I want to be clear that I will be serving out the rest of my term. I wanted to let folks know early enough in the year, so those interested in running for the Chair position next year could make appropriate plans before filing opens in September.

Due to the redistricting delay, our March Primary Election will probably be pushed to May or June. However, it appears, filing for an elected position will start in a few short months as usual.

I am enjoying my time as County Chair. Again, I will stay and finish my term and help the incoming chair as much as possible.  As we move forward through the rest of my term, please know one of my goals as Chair was and is – to continue to bring peace and harmony into our local party. I think it is extremely important for us to realize the people within our party are not the enemy. We may not all agree on everything all the time – but working to defeat democrats is so much more important to protect America than being so extremely critical and hateful of our own Republicans who differ on a few policy issues.

Especially in this time of our life and political situation, we must remember who the real enemy is. I believe we must stand strong with our elected officials and support them! When you have evil and the enemy fighting against them – having their back is paramount! So please, fight for your chosen primary candidates, then, support the winners in the fall and as they fulfill their terms of office!

Again, I will finish my term and continue to work and build our party.  Thank you all for what you do to mobilize voters and grow our party. I hope we all stay focused on building the party and protecting both Texas and America!

Sincerely,
Jayne
