It’s hard to believe that the August district work period is coming to a close. My staff and I have taken advantage of this time by getting to work all over Texas’ Thirteenth Congressional District hosting various town halls, taking tours, arranging meetings, and more.
It is always great being home and connecting with the great people of TX-13!

Thank you to Bowie High School and Henreitta High School for having me participate in the coin toss to kick off the game in Bowie last Friday night. It was a great time and embodied what TX-13 is all about, camaraderie, patriotism, and football all under the Friday night lights! Both teams possess a ton of talent. Keep up the hard work and I can’t wait to keep up with your teams this season.

It was great meeting with the farmers from the Texas Farm Bureau at the V-Tex Whitetail Ranch in Windthorst. TX-13 is the number one agriculture producing district in Texas, and I am a proud member of the House Agriculture Committee. I will always fight for our farmers and ranchers!

On her very first day, I had the honor of meeting Midwestern State University’s new president, Stacia Haynie. President Haynie will add tremendous value to this already fantastic university in TX-13. I can’t wait to see what great things President Haynie and Midwestern State University are able to accomplish this academic year.

The Spicer Gripp Memorial Youth Foundation in Hereford is a fantastic organization. It provides scholarships for local youth, encourages agricultural and academic excellence, and supports cultural and industrial events in the area. I was able to proudly present the Congressional Record at their annual foundation reception in Hereford to the Formby family for their 75 years of radio in the Panhandle. Thank you all for having me!

In August, I joined the great Sean Hannity to give my take on Senator Feinstein’s health issues in the wake of her handing her power of attorney over to her daughter and her confusion during a roll call vote. Even Democrats have called for her resignation! This United States Senate is not a nursing home, and nobody elected staff members to vote as Senators.

Thank you to all who attended the Farm Bill listening session I hosted along with Representative Jodey Arrington. Thank you also to West Texas A&M University for allowing us to use the Piehl-Schaeffer Pavilion to hear from farmers and ranchers on their priorities for this year’s Farm Bill. As the top agriculture producing district in Texas, I am extremely proud to represent TX-13 on the House Agriculture Committee. Rest assured, I will fight endlessly for our district and farmers and ranchers across the country in this year’s Farm Bill. This piece of legislation not only lays the foundation and secures funding for America’s agricultural industry, but it is a vital pillar for the well-being of our rural communities, economies, the security of our food supply, and the preservation of our national security.

It was great joining the Levelland Chamber of Commerce for a productive Farm Bill conversation at the incredible South Plains Implement. Thank you for having Representative Jodey Arrington, Chairman Conaway, and me over to meet with you to hear your concerns. A huge thank you for your hard work in supporting our robust, rural economies!

I had the honor of touring PYCO Industries in Lubbock with Representative Jodey Arrington. PYCO Industries is the largest cottonseed oil mill processing facility in the nation and continues to innovate right here in West Texas! We learned about the technology and labor utilized to make cottonseed oil, cottonseed meal, and more. This all-American company has been the best in the business for over 80 years!

On August 24, I hosted a Town Hall in Amarillo with nearly 200 people attending. It is always great to be able to update you all on what has been going on in DC and what’s to come. Most importantly, I always look forward the most to hearing what issues are important to TX-13 and to answer your questions on various issues our district is facing. Thank you to all who came out, and I can’t wait to do another one soon!

I had the privilege of facilitating the long overdue presentation of the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and Jump Wings to Veteran and true patriot Bobby Kile of Perryton, TX for combat actions in Vietnam on June 25, 1966. My incredible staff and I had been working through layers of bureaucratic paperwork to secure this long-awaited, well-deserved, and prestigious recognition. Thank you, Bobby for your service!

Last month, I had the pleasure of joining the Texas Farm Bureau for a great and productive dinner in Amarillo. I enjoyed getting to hear questions and concerns for this year’s Farm Bill from different generations of farmers and ranchers. A special shoutout to the impressive group from the Collegiate Farm Bureau of West Texas A&M University!

A huge thank you to Dr. Lori Rice-Spearman, President of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, for meeting with me to discuss improving maternal health services in Pampa and the surrounding area. A huge win for rural healthcare in Texas’ Thirteenth Congressional District!
